Long before reaching tournament stages in the mid-2020s, the squad established a reputation as a powerhouse on the global stage. They first participated in the inaugural FIFA U-20 Women’s World Championship in Canada back in 2002.
Throughout their storied youth tournament history, the Falconets have reached the final match of the global competition twice. They claimed the silver medal in both 2010 and 2014, narrowly losing to Germany on both occasions. These impressive runs featured legendary Nigerian talents who later anchored the senior Super Falcons squad at multiple FIFA Women’s World Cups.

The Falconets hold the distinction of being the most successful African team in the history of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. While other confederations share the tournament titles, Nigeria remains a permanent fixture in the knockout rounds. Their tactical development turned the side into a factory for elite global talent.
By the conclusion of the tournament cycle in Costa Rica in August 2022, the Falconets had secured over fifteen all-time victories at the U-20 World Cup finals.
